Santa Kicks Off the Holiday Season

• Santa’s Arrival & Tree Lighting Event: On Saturday, November 19th, The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley will welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus as they arrive via fire truck just in time for the center’s spectacular tree-lighting event, presented by the Lehigh Valley Health Network. Starting at 5:30 p.m., families are invited to find the perfect spot to welcome the holiday season as they gather around the center’s 35-foot Christmas tree with a 7-foot star. Mike and Steph from radio station B104 will emcee the event, and music provided by DJ Cap Cee as well as performances by Orbital Drums and a local tap dancing group (at The Patio) will entertain the crowd. At 6 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus will light the tree, then make their way to their festive holiday home inside the stone gazebo in Town Square (near Starbucks) where children and their families can visit and share their wish lists with the iconic couple. The evening’s festivities will conclude as families take professional photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus; while walk-ups will be accommodated on a case-by-case basis, reservations are strongly encouraged. Santa will be available for professional photos taken by Dan’s Camera City in the gazebo on select dates between November 19th and December 24th. Photo packages range from $27 to $49. The event will continue until 9 p.m. with fun-filled activities at The Patio presented by Allegiant. • Storytime with Santa and Mrs. Claus: The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley invites children and their families to enjoy a special storytime with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Sunday, November 20th, from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Barnes & Noble. During this fun-filled event, Santa and Mrs. Claus will read Earl: The Christmas Tree Spider, a cheerful holiday-themed book written by Erin Rafanello Ferguson, a freelance entertainment journalist and children’s book author. The book will be available for purchase at Barnes & Noble, and Ferguson, the book’s the author, will be in the store after the event for book signings. This event is free and open to the public; no pre-registration is required. Immediately following the event, Santa and Mrs. Claus will head to the gazebo in Town Square for professional family photos taken by Dan’s Camera City. While a reservation is not required and walk-up visits will be accommodated on a space-available basis, to reduce wait times, pre-registration is strongly encouraged. • Photos with Santa: The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley invites the community to share their wish lists with Santa inside the stone gazebo in Town Square (near Starbucks) on select dates between November 19th and December 24th. From November 29th through December 25th, radio station B104 is running a “Scared of Santa” photo contest; the station is encouraging parents to upload photos that don’t turn out as planned to www.B104.com for a chance to win a prize valued up to $500.
   
• Pet Nights with Santa: Pet owners are invited to bring their furry four-legged friends to a special pet photo session with Santa Claus from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on two Thursday evenings: December 8th and December 15th. During these times, well-mannered, leashed or kenneled pets can visit with Santa in his festive holiday home inside the center’s stone gazebo in Town Square (near Starbucks) while professional photographers from Dan’s Camera City capture the memories as Santa and each fur baby enjoy a warm encounter. All pets must be leashed or caged while in the shopping center. Photo packages range from $27 to $49. • Holiday Carriage Rides: The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley has once again partnered with Saucon Valley Carriage to offer guests private horse-drawn carriage rides along the scenic mountainside shopping center’s beautiful Main Street this holiday season. A wonderful way to make lasting memories and capture amazing seasonal photos, each ride lasts 15 to 20 minutes and can accommodate up to four guests (no pets allowed). This activity is available on select dates only, including November 19th, 25th and 26th as well as December 4th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 16th, 17th and 23rd. • Holiday Carolers: The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley invites the community to enjoy the sounds of the season as the area’s famed Olde Town Carolers once again take the stage at The Patio. Each performance will be delivered by a troupe of professional musicians performing holiday music spanning generations and cultural divides, from old German carols and classic Christmas songs to 20th century hits. These events are free and open to the public; no pre-registration is required. Performances will be held on four dates in December:
  - Saturdays, December 3rd, 10th and 17th: 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m.
  - Saturday, December 24th (Christmas Eve): 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
   
• Black Friday Contests: On November 25th (Black Friday), shoppers will enjoy extended 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. shopping hours, a host of great bargains from the center’s retailers, and fun-filled Spin-the-Wheel and Enter-to-Win contests with prizes ranging from umbrellas, tote bags and blankets to $100 gift cards to select retailers and restaurants throughout the center.
